KCSO Boater's Safety: Get certified for FREE at the North Idaho Boat Show!

Event date: Sunday, February 4th. 9:00am - 2pm

Safety First, Always

Our Marine law enforcement and rescue patrols work tirelessly to keep our waterways safe year-round. From May 1st to September 15th, they're at maximum deployment, ensuring that every boater, kayaker, and jet ski enthusiast can enjoy our scenic wonders without worry. But safety isn't just their job – it's a responsibility we all share. By completing a boater safety class, you're equipping yourself with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate our waters with confidence and caution.

Education Saves Lives

Did you know that Kootenai County boasts the largest number of registered boaters in the State? With over 24,000 avid watercraft enthusiasts, it's more important than ever to prioritize boater education. Throughout the year, the marine program offers certified boating education courses to the public, free of charge. Yes, you heard that right – FREE! Thanks to our partnership with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, boaters of all ages can access this invaluable training right here at the North Idaho Boat Show, ensuring that our waters remain safe for everyone.

In most U.S. states, a boater safety card is mandatory for operating a vessel – and Kootenai County is no exception. Upon completing our State Certified Boating Education course, participants receive this essential credential, opening the door to endless adventures. Whether you're fishing on Lake Pend Oreille or cruising down the Coeur d'Alene River, having your boater safety card on hand ensures that you're not just boating– you're boating responsibly.

Community Support

As a proud member of the local boating community, we're thrilled to announce that the North Idaho Boat Show will be hosting KCSO boater safety classes - just in time for the summer season. It's another way we're staying active and engaged in the vibrant boating community of North Idaho, and we couldn't be more excited to share our passion for boater’s safety with you.

Remember: completing a boater safety class isn't just a suggestion – it's a necessity. Together, let's keep our waters safe, our adventures endless, and our love for boating stronger than ever. See you at the boat show!
